3 Questions to… Andres Texido, VP sales & marketing at International Direct Packaging

INSIGHT / EXHIBITORS - 2021/03/19

  • One of your innovations are the paper bags that you have chosen to highlight…

We shall be presenting a new collection of shopping bags incorporating 25% aloe fibres. This of course reduces the percentage of wooden fibres as well as also allowing us to exploit a raw material (aloe fibre) that doesn’t generally get used. This new paper will be available in white and can be printed in standard offset and hot stamped. It will offer the same resistance over time as classic paper, and the same recyclability. In terms of finish, our customers will also be able to opt for water-based varnishes, developed in partnership with a paper manufacturer based in Asia. These varnishes offer similar properties to conventional varnishes, apart from the fact that in terms of gloss the finish is more of a mirror effect.

  • Anything new with regard to boxes?

We are working with post-consumer fibres both for shopping bags and for cardboard boxes, and in each category we can propose products made of 100% post-consumer waste. In fact, today we have a complete collection of ecological products containing fibres in different proportions to satisfy the technical specifications of each of our customers.

  • Any other innovations you’d care to mention?

We are launching a 100%-compostable stitched suit cover. It is made from washable paper and Paptic, a material that we promoted last year on our stand which – to recap – offers the mechanical qualities of a plastic (water-resistance, resistance to stretching) while remaining biodegradable. Through their form, these suit covers close without the use of a zip and have a resistance capacity of up to 3 kg. They can be flexo, offset and screen-printed with the possibility of varnishing and embossing.
