Papeteries de Vizille: 400 Years of Papermaking Expertise Serving Responsible Luxury Packaging

Papeteries de Vizille: 400 Years of Papermaking Expertise Serving Responsible Luxury Packaging
For more than four centuries, Papeteries de Vizille has been designing and manufacturing premium uncoated papers and boards for luxury brands, as well as their printing and converting partners. Building on this unique industrial heritage, the company continues to support market developments by creating solutions that combine aesthetic quality with environmental responsibility.

At Édition Spéciale by LUXE PACK, Papeteries de Vizille is highlighting its covering papers for boxes and canisters used in the cosmetics, fragrance, champagne, and spirits sectors. At the heart of this presentation is DeLuxPack Smooth, an uncoated paper developed for brands seeking solutions that meet PPWR requirements, with less chemistry and more raw material.

Among the projects showcased this year is a spirits canister developed in collaboration with Digital Packaging. Produced using DeLuxPack Smooth 140 gsm premium covering paper from the DeLux Collection, the project reflects an approach focused on raw materials and authenticity.

The choice of an uncoated paper made from pure cellulose provides an elegant, high-quality finish while limiting the treatments commonly used within the sector.

The paper’s printing and finishing performance allows the design to stand out without relying on unnecessary effects. The entire packaging solution, composed of greyboard, DeLuxPack Smooth covering paper, and metal, is fully recyclable. A hot-foil stamping application has been used sparingly to highlight specific graphic elements, demonstrating that premium packaging can combine creativity, quality execution, and environmental restraint.

A Long-Term Industrial and Environmental Commitment

Papeteries de Vizille has observed a market shift towards greater sustainability, recyclability, and reusability, particularly in the context of the implementation of the PPWR. The company notes that all stakeholders across the packaging industry are preparing for these new requirements.

As a paper manufacturer, Papeteries de Vizille is continuously working to improve its paper formulations in order to offer customers papers with excellent tactile qualities while using less material and avoiding additional chemical inputs.

The company also highlights its strong industrial and regional roots. Today, 70% of the energy used in its production comes from renewable sources, thanks to a biomass boiler and two hydroelectric turbines.

To meet brands’ growing expectations for transparency, Papeteries de Vizille holds PEFC, FSC, ISO 50001, and ISO 9001 certifications. The company is also certified under the “Made in France” label.
