The Grenoble-based startup is on the verge of disrupting the food and cosmetics industry with its breakthrough innovation: an ultra-thin coating of alumina that provides paper and cardboard with new mechanical properties.
Environmental concern, consumer demand, and tightening and intensification of regulations are all factors contributing to the significant trend of plastic reduction by industries.
And for good reason, the plastic packaging of a chocolate bar, useful for a few days’ packaging – if not less – will remain in nature for 300 years. A lifecycle far too long, compounded by a glaring lack of recycling infrastructure worldwide and a too partial awareness of the environmental consequences of their dispersal on land and in the sea.
Furthermore, to address these challenges, industries are increasingly collaborating with other value chain actors. With materials suppliers, packaging experts, and environmental organizations, they strive to share knowledge, hoping that technological advancements and innovations will offer new packaging possibilities in the near future.
