[Start-Up] Biomaterials: The New Materialist is paving the way for a regenerative approach
Can you introduce The New Materialist and explain its positioning?
We help brands integrate biomaterials that are consistent with their identity, technical constraints, and environmental objectives.
In concrete terms, we work on packaging, POSM, and retail spaces, with an approach centered on design and material.
What is your vision of packaging today and the challenges facing the sector?
The sector is facing a complex equation. Packaging must embody a strong brand identity, ensure product protection, deliver a high-quality unboxing experience, while complying with the latest regulations promoting circularity (PPWR). On top of this, there is the need to reduce its impact on ecosystems throughout its entire lifecycle.
These constraints create a number of uncertainties for industry players. Our role is precisely to support them in making these trade-offs, by providing a design-driven response. Many players today claim to be “sustainable.”
How does your approach go further?
Our approach is based on a simple principle: starting from the client’s real need to design the most relevant biomaterial solution, with industrialization strategies best suited to the intended system.
We are not manufacturers, which allows us to remain completely agnostic. However, we select and combine the best available technologies and expertise to build a tailored solution.
This balance is essential to deliver solutions that are aligned with the brand’s aesthetic universe, technical constraints, environmental objectives, and economic realities.
If packaging were one word?
What sustainable innovations will you present, and how do they fit into your strategy?
We will present our design-driven innovation platform. It is a methodological and expertise-based foundation that enables us to accelerate, simplify, and secure the development of biomaterial projects. We will showcase some of our flagship materials, as well as others currently in development.
The New Materialist is a company working to transition our industries toward biomaterials. We are sustainable by design. We are committed to developing and industrializing a range of high-performance, cost-effective, and nature-respectful biomaterials.
