Arctic Paper: “Munken” — the benchmark in designer graphic papers offers sustainable materiality
In a sector where sustainability is both a prerequisite and a differentiating factor, Arctic Paper is putting paper back at the heart of premium packaging. A true vector of emotion, this material is gaining relevance through an expanded range while reducing its industrial footprint thanks to the gradual transformation of the European group’s production sites.

Rethinking the sensory experience through paper

A historic player in graphic papers for publishing and creative industries, Arctic Paper is confidently entering the world of high-end packaging. With three production sites in Poland and Sweden, the group relies on recognized expertise to offer substrates capable of expressing brand identity through nothing more than their unique textures and shades.Paper is once again taking on a strategic role.

Texture, visual rendering, and color reproduction are all dimensions that contribute to the overall experience. Arctic Paper is building on its heritage while adapting its flagship ranges to the constraints of packaging. The expansion of the Munken Design range in heavier weights illustrates this evolution, offering designers new technical possibilities.
To simplify logistics for brands, the company is also embracing a stronger collaborative approach with players across the graphic arts value chain. The partnership with Antalis, presented during the Édition Spéciale by LUXE PACK trade show, reflects this commitment to bringing production, distribution, and end use closer together.

Measurable sustainability

At Arctic Paper, sustainability is a core industrial parameter. The Swedish mill in Munkedal provides a concrete example: equipped with a water recycling system inspired by the bio-cycle, it consumes around 60% less water than a standard European paper mill. This is complemented by an ambitious energy transition plan, with a target of more than 90% biofuels by the end of 2026.

These technical choices reflect a pragmatic approach: reducing the carbon footprint without compromising the performance standards expected by brands.

This is precisely where the group intends to differentiate itself. By working with virgin fibers sourced from controlled supply chains and optimizing its industrial processes, Arctic Paper offers substrates capable of meeting the high standards of premium packaging while providing greater transparency regarding their environmental impact.
