Canson, from fine art paper to luxury packaging
Long associated with fine arts and drawing, the Canson brand is now stepping into the demanding world of luxury packaging.
This move is driven by a deep passion for fine papers and a clear ambition for 2026: to establish itself as a leading partner with a range of proven and updated products, designed to meet the expectations of brands and converters.
450 years of history serving the biggest names
The name Canson resonates like a familiar, almost intimate signature. Yet behind this broad public recognition lies a more recent packaging expertise, patiently developed since the late 20th century.
Heir to a papermaking savoir-faire dating back to 1557, the French brand leverages its mastery of fine papers to offer a range dedicated to the production of folding cartons, rigid boxes, and perfume blotters.
Boards trusted by the world’s leading brands
Beyond aesthetics, it is in the field of sustainability that Canson aims to make a lasting impression. Based in Annonay, in the Ardèche region, at the heart of a preserved natural environment, the company embeds its strategy in a concrete approach to responsibility.
Water resource optimization, reduction of emissions, local sourcing, and energy performance: every lever is activated to limit its industrial footprint. The latest investment to date is the commissioning of a biomass boiler at the Moulin du Roi site, enabling savings of more than 5,000 tons of CO₂ per year.
The example of the “Grand Mûrier” board, made from 100% recycled pulp with at least 60% post-consumer fibers, illustrates this commitment to responsible innovation—combining high whiteness with a unique aesthetic signature that embraces its origin.

In a market where packaging must both appeal and protect, Canson puts forward a clear conviction: its new range of boards and papers meets the pursuit of excellence, while remaining true to the brand image of the products it protects.
