Les Ateliers du Sac : The elegance of paper for designer bags
A bag that the consumer is proud to carry in public promotes the brand’s image and its product but, today, it must also convey ethical values. This expertise has been developed by Les Ateliers du Sac launched in December 2021.

The elegance and durability of a designer paper bag distinguishes all the expertise of the Ateliers Agis group’s Les Ateliers du Sac brand. It offers a wide choice of customisation, thanks to the many designs available, and also produces custom bags.
Established in western France on two industrial sites near Rennes and Nantes, the company develops its expertise in embellishing paper from European suppliers. It uses 220 g PEFC-labelled mono-jet substrates but will be expanding its range with one of the new concepts that it will be presenting at Edition Spéciale by Luxe Pack Paris.
White or bulk-dyed, the paper can be printed with the customer’s graphics. Once this step has been completed in close cooperation with its partner printer, Calligraphy Print, Les Ateliers du Sac finishes the support and then manufactures the bag itself, which allows it to showcase 100% French manufacturing.
“To enhance the brand’s specific logo or the one selected by the customer from the collection of designs presented on our website, the Basic and Basic+ ranges, we offer hot stamping”, said Cyril-Alexandre Blanc, CEO of Ateliers du Sac.
The company, specialising in paper embellishment, has been an expert in screen printing, embossing, selective varnish, and glitter varnish for over 35 years. Concerned about reducing its carbon footprint and not disrupting the recycling of its bags, it uses mineral inks and, for lamination, 100% recyclable, recycled, or bio-sourced films.
After two years of R&D for the implementation of a production line, Les Ateliers du Sac is continuing its development by considering the installation of a second line to accommodate different bag formats. A sheltered workshop fits the cords and handles on the bag, which can be in FSC certified paper or in Oeko Tex or GOTS cotton.
From the designs it offers on its website, the company guarantees express delivery of its Basic and Basic+ range. ‘A slightly longer turnaround time is to be expected for an order of designer bags of at least a thousand items’, mentioned Cyril-Alexandre Blanc, who added, ‘for small quantities, the customer can choose online and order a model among the five ranges we have in stock. As our offer of designer paper bags covers many sectors (Alcohol, jewellery, perfumery, textiles, etc.), we are able to respond to any type of request which, while respecting the environment, enhances the customer’s brand’.
