DOT2DOT: with ECOLURE, sustainability is back in full bloom!
Sustainable packaging doesn’t have to be grey and drab: the Polish company DOT2DOT has provided further proof of this with its ECOLURE technology, which makes it possible to create recyclable packaging with a metallic appearance without the addition of PET lamination film.
For 30 years, DOT2DOT has specialised in the manufacture of compact, laminated cardboard packaging, particularly for the beauty, food, and spirits sectors. More recently, the company has adopted a sustainable and responsible strategy, DOT2GREEN, for all aspects of its business: procurement, materials, design, transport, recycling, etc.
As such, thanks to European co-financing, extensive research has been carried out since 2020 on a new packaging finishing and customisation technology called ECOLURE. What makes it so innovative? Based on an UV LED overprint process, it guarantees attractive, colourful, and metallic visual effects without any PET filming. The Möbius loop on the packaging clearly indicates its recyclability.
Offering the same level of visual quality and functional properties as conventional lamination, ECOLURE also has multiple ecological advantages, such as certified recyclability (1), a carbon footprint reduced by almost 6% compared to conventional film-coated packaging, elimination of ozone during the UV LED printing process (as opposed to UV technology), and lower energy consumption overall. In addition, production waste can also be reused.
